Downsizing!

I have several different blogs that cover my varied interests and hobbies. While I liked the idea of having separate blogs for separate things, having more than one blog seems a bit redundant. I have decided to consolidate, so please come over and visit me at HouseWife with a Day Job where you wiil find all the content of all my blogs consoldiated.

Hope to see you there!

Desktop Crafting

Well, I was at work the other morning waiting for my very slow computer to finish its boot-up process, and I got inspired. I looked on my desk and using what I had on hand, crafted a corner book mark. It came out pretty good. In the interest of full disclosure it took less than 5 minutes and it is something I can use in the office :)

Bi-Color Corner Bookmark

Supplies:

1 3" X 5" Index Card
1 pencil
1 ruler
1 pair of scissors
2 3" by 3" Post it Notes
1 glue stick

Step 1: Using the ruler and pencil, mark the 2.5" point across the width of the index card.

Step 2: Fold both sides of the card to the middle, forming a triangle and using the handle of the scissors as a bone folder.

Step 3: Using the ruler, draw a diagonal line through the middle of both Post It notes. Cut along the line so that you have two even halves for a total of four triangles. Put 1 set aside for another project.

Step 4: Apply glue stick to the back of the Post It note triangles, to include the sticky strip. Lining up the corner of the Post It note with the corner of the index card triangle, glue it down on the index card. Ensure that the sides are completely glued down. Glue the other Post It note on the other side.

Step 5: Cut approximtaely 1/16" off the bottom of the marker. I ended up cutting into the Post It note a bit to ensusr the bottom was even.

Step 6: And here you can see my finshed product being used on my calendar.

I thought it came out very nice considering I was in a hurry and was limited to what was on my desk. Maybe I need to bring some stickers or cutouts from home to embellish it? :)

Swap-Bot!!

Hello -

It has been a hectic few months, but I am back in the creative mode once again - hoorah! I have been doing some swapping with Swap-Bot. Mostly letters and Artist trading Cards (ATCs). It is great fun and very relaxing for me. My user name is CarolinaWriter if you'd like to look me up.

I am also rearranging my craft area once again. We had orginally set it up in part of my daughter's playroom, but we have decided that she needs more room in there, so we are setting up my area in the study. We shall see how that turns out :)

Getting Started

Here is the Ariel material that Emma picked out for her doctor's coat. I also bought some fat quarters in a ballet theme to use in making some runners for her dressers and night stands.

At any rate, I have every thing ready to go. I have stitched up the raw edges of my material and prewashed it. I think it will turn out nice.

Hello!

I love all sorts of crafting and creative arts...sewing, quilting, cross-stitch, embroidery, scrapbooking, card-making, beading and jewelry-making...just to name a few. For many years I did not have a dedicated space to spread out all my "crafting stuff" so he suggested that I divide our daughter's play room into her area, and my craftg area. That is a project in progress, and it's almost done. My hubby also got me a new sewing machine, and I am very excited about trying it out.

Thanks for stopping by!
